Welcome to Mountain View Adventist Academy!
Victor Hugo quoted in Dr. Edward R. Krishnan’s book – A Caring Teacher said: “He who opens a school door closes a prison”
On behalf of the community of Mountain View Adventist Academy (MVAA), I wish to share the beauty of our institution with you. I now invite you to the top of the mountain for a beautiful experience!
Mountain View Adventist Academy is an institution run by the South Botswana Conference of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and it is situated in the greater part of Gaborone (Capital City of Botswana) and its mission is to provide quality and a high standard of Secondary Education whose graduates can excel in the world of work and or any higher institution of learning and also be counted as candidates of heaven.
As an institution, our aim is to lead students into a journey of excellence  – where they will lead in FAITH, LEARNING AND SERVICE and the Philosophical Principle of our institution is centered around the development of the 3H’s – Head, Heart and Hand.
Beloved, without a distinctive philosophy, one is bound to fail in making an intelligent decision on life or to give an explanation on the existence of an organization. Dr G. Knight once said, “it is impossible to arrive at your destination unless you know where you are going”. This is true indeed, that is why our primary role as an institution has always been to educate students for the citizenship in the kingdom of heaven – to lead young people into a transformation, saving relationship with Jesus Christ. Our secondary role, of course, is that of academic excellence, character development or social responsibility and preparation for the world of work. Mountain View Adventist Academy’s Vision is to inspire a passion of learning and service for God and human kind. And, our Mission as an institution is to harmoniously develop each student’s Spiritual, Mental, Social and Physical faculties to prepare for the joy of service in this world and the world to come.
Our system educates holistically and emphasis is placed on counsels from the Word of God.  Children are properly trained so that they may be witnesses for the truth and be able to stand like a rock for principle and aspire to any height of attainment.
The Review and Herald, 1883 in Guiding Principles to the Youth Chapter 1 and 2 have this to say: “The Bible teaches men to act from principle and whenever we successfully resist evil influences we are strengthening that principle which has been assailed. The mere possessions or talent is no guarantee of usefulness or happiness in life. Right principles are the only basis of true success”.
In the era that we live in, jobs are scarce and moral principles are dying every minute. Our prospects for making it are to introduce people to the One who created, the same One who is able to fashion their lives and give them the intelligence they need. This whole tapestry, obviously prepares people for the joy of service through acquisition of knowledge, skills and attitude.
E. G. White in her book, Education Chapter 1 page 13 has this to say: True education means more than the pursual of a certain course of study. It means more than a preparation for the life that now is.
The source of such education is brought to view in these words of Holy Writ, pointing to the Infinite One: In Him “are hid all the treasurers of wisdom.”Colossians Chapter 2 verse 3. “He hath counsel and understanding.”Job Chapter 12 verse 13.
Our system educates holistically and emphasis is placed on counsels from the Word of God. The Bible is made the ground work and subject matter of our education. Through this, students together with their teachers weave the web of their eternal destiny and this makes our curriculum a unique one!
Mountain View Adventist Academy offers a four year course of a full Secondary Cambridge International Curriculum (International General Certificate of Secondary Education) and the examining body is the University of Cambridge Local Examination Syndicate – CIE. Cambridge IGCSE is the world’s most popular international curriculum leading to globally recognised and valued Cambridge IGCSE qualifications. IGCSE is a qualification based on individual subject study, meaning one receives an “IGCSE” qualification for each subject taken. Cambridge IGCSE provides a broad and flexible study programme and covers varied subjects. Most IGCSE subjects offer a choice of tiered examination: Core or Extended papers, and foundation or higher papers. This is designed to make IGCSE suitable for students with varying levels of ability. In some subjects, IGCSE can be taken with or without coursework.
Mountain View Adventist Academy also offers the following life skills to the students: Brick Laying, Carpentry, Dress Making, Leather Craft Manufacturing, Auto Mechanics, Flower Arrangements and Card Designing. Our students are examined after a full study of these courses and they are awarded Foundation Certificates.
Mountain View Adventist Academy has a strong and supportive Parents and Teachers Association – a body that provides valuable feedback on the general running of the institution and also makes the education system more responsive to the needs of the learners. The association also provides valuable source of community involvement.
I believe with this brief introduction of Mountain View Adventist Academy, you cannot resist the desire of a deep walk with our wonderful institution.

There Is Nothing More Powerful Than A Human Being With PURPOSE!

3 john 1:4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth.

The “all-important thing” in education “should be the conversion” of students (Fundamentals of Christian Education, p. 436). The primary purpose of Seventh-day Adventist education is to provide opportunities for students to: accept Jesus as their Savior. embrace a life of service to others.

Our schools have to be so attractive that they stand out as beacons of light and centers of evangelism in their communities. The influence of our schools should be so profound that they become agents of change in their communities.
